Govardhan is a small town built around a sacred hill, and almost every important place here lies on or near the 21 km parikrama around Giriraj ji. Distances below are by road from Vrajraj Farms & Retreat at Punchhari, on the southern side of the hill.
Daan Ghati Temple · 7 km
The Giriraj ji shrine in Govardhan town where most parikramas begin. Devotees offer milk abhishek to the sacred rock, and the lanes around it are lively with flower and prasad stalls from early morning.
Manasi Ganga · 8 km
The great sacred tank at the heart of Govardhan, said to have been manifested from the mind (manas) of Krishna. Its stone ghats are traditionally credited to Raja Bhagwan Das of Amber, and evening lamps on the water make it especially peaceful.
Harideva Temple · 8 km
A 16th-century sandstone temple beside Manasi Ganga, also linked to Raja Bhagwan Das, and one of the oldest standing temples in Govardhan.
Mukharvind & Shrinathji Temple, Jatipura · 4 km
Worshipped as the mouth (mukharvind) of Giriraj ji. Jatipura is the original seat of Shrinathji, worshipped here under Vallabhacharya before the deity was taken to Nathdwara in 1672. It is a centre of the Pushtimarg tradition, with milk offerings and grand shringar on festival days.
Punchhari ka Lautha · 2 km
The shrine of Lautha Baba at the southern tip, or "tail", of Govardhan Hill, where pilgrims stop to mark their parikrama. It is our nearest landmark, and the Nrisimha temple at Punchhari is close by. More about Punchhari →
Aanyor & Govind Kund · 3–4 km
Aanyor village sits on the crest of the hill and is associated with the Annakut offering. Nearby Govind Kund is a sacred pond on the western side of the hill.
Radha Kund & Shyam Kund · 12 km
Twin sacred ponds on the north side of the parikrama, held most dear in the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition. The midnight bath on Ahoi Ashtami (1 November 2026) draws huge crowds. Radha Kund guide →
Kusum Sarovar · 9 km
A large sandstone tank with ghats, pavilions and the cenotaphs of the Jat ruler Suraj Mal, built by his son Jawahar Singh. It is one of the most photographed spots in Braj, especially at sunset.
Uddhav Kund · ~11 km
A quiet kund on the parikrama between Govardhan and Radha Kund, associated with Uddhav, Krishna's friend and messenger to the gopis.
Beyond Govardhan, a short drive away
Deeg Palace & Jal Mahal · 14 km
The 18th-century water palaces and gardens of the Bharatpur Jat rulers, just across the Rajasthan border. Beautiful, and rarely crowded.
Barsana · 27 km
The town of Radha Rani, with the Shriji (Ladli ji) temple on the hill above. Home of the famous Lathmar Holi.
Keoladeo National Park, Bharatpur · 40 km
A UNESCO World Heritage bird sanctuary, at its best from November to February when migratory birds arrive.
Temple darshan timings change with the season and on festival days, and many temples close for a few hours around midday. Check locally on the day, or ask our team when you stay.
Seeing it all from one base
Most places in Govardhan are within 30 minutes of Vrajraj. Walk the parikrama one morning, visit Radha Kund at dusk, and spend a day on Barsana and Nandgaon. Then return each evening to open fields and a quiet room.
